The original McCormick Sand was established in 1962 by James McCormick. Sand was mined by McCormick for several years, but eventually the business was sold. Later, James, his son, Joel, and grandson, Jesse decided to start an excavating company together. When choosing a name for the company, they discovered that the name McCormick Sand was still available. In 2002 McCormick Sand, Inc. and the McCormick Sand Mine began operation.
A prime piece of property on the corner of Russell Road and Bard Road in Twin Lake, MI went up for sale in 2005. Not knowing what they would do with it at the time, the three men purchased it because of its ideal location. After extensive research, they decided to build a fuel station and convenience store simply named McCormick. In 2009 another store was built on White Lake Drive in Whitehall, MI and in 2016 a store was completed on Fruitvale Road in Montague, MI.
In 2014 they opened a seasonal submarine sandwich and ice-cream shop, McCormick - The Lunch Box, which is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and is adjacent to the store on Russell Road. Fueling heavy equipment and operating fuel stations led to their most recent business adventure, the creation of McCormick Transport, which delivers commercial and agricultural fuel.
Decades later, this three generation family business is still based on the simple principles of hard work and integrity. Whether your needs be excavating, fill materials, gas, convenience, food, or fuel, call McCormick. Every time.
